John was blessed with an enquiring mind, which was nurtured at the emergency school he attended in Deptford, resulting in his love of the arts. He is survived by : his daughters-in-law, Janet Matthews (Charlie) and Kathy Arvonio (Ed); his grandchildren, Amy Cryderman, Jamie and John Burkett; his great grandchildren, Lexis, Gavin, Jason, Tyler, Madison and Brynslee; and his sister Martha Sherman. John Burkett was an engineer, falconer and an expert in wildlife rehabilitation. Service will follow at 11 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Guthrie Cemetery.
