Cathedral Rock trail in Sedona is not a long hike, but it is a steep one. Completing the hike at sunset is magnificent. * Please remember to hike at your own risk. Bring a backpack with water reservoir or water bottle because you will want your hands to be free. Personally, I did not know what to expect. The top section of the walk enters a sub-alpine area, be sure to take appropriate clothing. Cathedral Rock has a nice setting beside snowy Mt. Be patient as the turnover is fairly quick. Cathedral Rock is one of the most popular hikes in Sedona — understandably so. Overview A newspaper report in 1896 reported Cathedral Rock as "a great knob of rock". Travel west about 1 mile.
